Mamata Banerjee Clarifies TMC's Position in INDIA Bloc, Addresses Congress Distrust
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has clarified that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) remains part of the Opposition's INDIA bloc at the national level, addressing misunderstandings about her earlier remarks. She highlighted that while there is no alliance between the TMC, Congress, and CPI(M) in West Bengal, the TMC is aligned with these parties in Delhi
Banerjee criticized the Congress and CPI(M) for allegedly attempting to divide votes in Bengal with BJP's support and urged voters to avoid supporting them locally. Despite this, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed distrust towards Banerjee, accusing her of abandoning the alliance and potentially aligning with the BJP.
In addition, Banerjee reiterated her claims of electoral malpractice in the 2021 Nandigram Assembly elections, where she narrowly lost to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari. She vowed to seek justice, asserting that the results were manipulated with the Election Commission's help and affirming her commitment to correcting this perceived injustice. Banerjee stated, "This isn't the verdict of the people of Nandigram," and pledged to continue her fight for justice.
