Recent Unrest in PoK Sparks Concerns: Kashmiri Activist Speaks Out
Recent events in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) have stirred tension in the region. A clash between police and JAAC activists resulted in the tragic deaths of four individuals, including a police officer. Despite efforts to quell the unrest, the situation remains unsettled.
In response to protests over issues like inflation and electricity bills, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif allocated Rs 23 billion for relief. While this announcement led to the cessation of strikes, discontent among the populace persists. Kashmiri activist Amjad Ayub Mirza, residing in Scotland, expressed his concerns regarding the situation in PoK during a conversation with Pakistani YouTuber Arzoo Kazmi.
Mirza emphasized the innocence and simplicity of the Kashmiri people, stating that they respond positively to kindness but react strongly to suppression by security forces. He highlighted an incident where anger boiled over, leading to confrontations with Pakistani security personnel. Despite the government's efforts to pacify the situation, Mirza believes that the underlying issues remain unresolved.
