A tragic bus accident occurred late at night involving a private bus from Balaji Bus Service, traveling from Indore to Ashoknagar. The bus, with registration number UP-78-GT-3394, fell from a culvert on National Highway No. 3 near Pachor on the Agra-Mumbai route, leading to the deaths of two passengers and injuring over 40 others. The deceased were identified as Hariom Kushwaha, a 21-year-old resident of Bhatoli, Ashoknagar, and an unidentified 30-year-old man.
The incident happened around 1:15 AM when the bus went out of control and plunged from the bridge, causing chaos and panic among the approximately 55 passengers on board. Emergency response was initially delayed, prompting Pachor police station in-charge Akansha Sharma to use a tractor trolley to transport the injured to Pachor Hospital. Out of the total passengers, more than 40 were injured, with 22 of them seriously enough to be referred to Shajapur District Hospital, and 19 of those were subsequently transferred to Indore for further treatment.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incident, announcing financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased. He also directed the district administration to ensure proper medical care for all the injured.
The driver and conductor of the bus fled the scene immediately after the accident and are currently being sought by the police for questioning. Authorities, including Shajapur SDM Manisha Vaskale and SDOP Gopal Singh Chauhan, arrived at the hospital to oversee the situation, although their arrival was notably late.
The injured passengers, who suffered varying degrees of trauma, received initial treatment at Pachor Hospital before being transferred to other medical facilities. The scene at Shajapur District Hospital was one of chaos, as the influx of injured patients overwhelmed the staff, who worked tirelessly to provide first aid and stabilize the seriously injured before transferring them to Indore.
The accident left the community in shock, and families of the passengers rushed to contact their loved ones. The police are also investigating the circumstances of the accident and interrogating the bus owner. Despite the initial delay in emergency response, efforts are now concentrated on providing medical care to the injured and supporting the families affected by this tragic event.
The bus accident has highlighted issues of road safety and emergency preparedness, prompting discussions on improving response times and ensuring stricter regulations for private bus operators. The community mourns the loss of lives and prays for the recovery of the injured as they cope with the aftermath of this devastating incident.
