Maintenance Work Prompts Power Cut in Chennai: Check Affected Areas

Chennai residents in Pattabiram, Thandurai, and Sekkadu areas will experience power cuts today from 9 am to noon due to maintenance work by TANGEDCO. The outage is necessary for erecting a new power transformer and replacing the AB switch at the Pattabiram substation, following recent transformer fires. Affected areas include Pattabiram, Thandurai, Iyyappan Nagar, Gopalapuram East & West, and others till noon. Meanwhile, online bill payments in Tamil Nadu surged from 57.25 lakh to 70.20 lakh consumers between April 2023 and April 2024, with collection rising from ₹1,550 crore to ₹2,010 crore. Major cities like Chennai, Tiruchy, Coimbatore, and Madurai saw a notable increase in online payments.
