The confrontation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over supremacy, leading to a distressing exchange of gunfire.

According to reports, tensions escalated when a member of one group opened fire, targeting two youths from the rival faction near Manjeet Nagar at 7 pm. The assailant unleashed a barrage of bullets, leaving both victims critically wounded, with three bullets piercing their bodies. Subsequently, the injured were rushed to a nearby private hospital for urgent medical attention, where they remain in critical condition.
खबरों के मुताबिक, शाम 7 बजे मंजीत नगर के पास एक गुट के सदस्य ने प्रतिद्वंद्वी गुट के दो युवकों को निशाना बनाते हुए गोलियां चला दीं, जिससे तनाव बढ़ गया। हमलावर ने गोलियों की बौछार कर दी, जिससे दोनों पीड़ित गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए, तीन गोलियां उनके शरीर में लगी। इसके बाद, घायलों को तत्काल चिकित्सा के लिए नजदीकी निजी अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां उनकी हालत गंभीर बनी हुई है।
The incident has plunged the surrounding area into a state of panic, prompting the swift arrival of senior police officials, including those from Police Station Division No. 5, Police Station Model Town, and Police Station GRP, to the scene.

Sources suggest a longstanding rivalry for supremacy between individuals known as Vicky and Jauni precipitated the violent confrontation. Eyewitnesses recount a heated altercation between the two on Monday evening, which escalated when Jauni brandished a pistol and unleashed a flurry of gunfire. Reportedly, Jauni fired five shots, resulting in two hitting Gurpreet alias Vicky in the chest and stomach, while Sukhpreet sustained a gunshot wound as well.

In response to the incident, Inspector Karanveer Singh, in-charge of Police Station GRP, stated that the investigation has uncovered historical animosity between the conflicting parties. He confirmed that one group targeted Gurpreet and Sukhpreet from the opposing faction, who are currently receiving medical treatment, with their conditions described as stable.
घटना के संबंध में थाना जीआरपी के प्रभारी निरीक्षक करणवीर सिंह ने बताया कि जांच में परस्पर विरोधी पक्षों के बीच ऐतिहासिक दुश्मनी उजागर हुई है. उन्होंने पुष्टि की कि एक समूह ने विरोधी गुट के गुरप्रीत और सुखप्रीत को निशाना बनाया, जो वर्तमान में चिकित्सा उपचार प्राप्त कर रहे हैं, उनकी स्थिति स्थिर बताई गई है।
Authorities are swiftly moving to register a case against the alleged perpetrator, Jauni, who instigated the violence through gunfire, as per Inspector Karanveer Singh.
