Election Commission Requests AAP to Amend Lok Sabha Campaign Song
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to alter its Lok Sabha campaign song to comply with Advertising Codes outlined in the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and ECI guidelines. The commission has asked for the modified version to be resubmitted for certification.

According to the ECI, the phrase "jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge" (we will vote in response to imprisonment) depicted in the song, featuring an assertive crowd holding a photo of Arvind Kejriwal behind bars, raises concerns about the judiciary. This phrase, reiterated multiple times in the advertisement, violates the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1)(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994.

Addressing the media, senior AAP leader Atishi remarked, "It is probably the first time that the EC has imposed a ban on a party’s campaign song." She clarified that the song does not mention the BJP and does not contravene the Model Code of Conduct. Atishi accused the EC of turning a blind eye to poll code violations committed by the BJP, expressing concerns about the integrity of democracy.
